Starting the New Tank

I tried that last evening and cracked one or two of them.
I drilled extra holes into the overlfow, but I may just crack off one or two of the pieces to allow greater flow. The acrylic they use is super brittle, but will attemt to use the Dremel tonight to widen the holes before I silicone it in.

I used a 3/8 straight bit on my cheapo home depot router table, I manager to screw up a few of the slots and cracking one on Rich's. But overall I think Rich and Warren is happy because they are still talking to me afterwards. The key part in to have someone hold a vacuum hose close to the cutting point so you can see where the bit is cutting.
As for silicone the cover, I think Warren did not do so and recommended Rich to not doing too. The water pressure kinda pushes it against the glass skimmer walls.

Thanks for the recs - I'll definately try both - I have a few other ideas as well - I think my Dremel came with a router attachement, so, I can also try that. I was successful in doing a few holes, but when I craked 2 I freaked - good thing I have weldon in house.
Anyhow, I'll let you know how it turns out. I need to work on the drains tonight. Then, Vvvvvvvvvvrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmm! Start her up! Water first of course

OK Folks - here are the 1/4 acrylic baffles glued into place. I will silicone them later tonight - have a wedding to go to - damn social plans getting in the way of the tank progress.
I may put water in it tomorrow.

Whew - my hands are hurting, I almost have it done and here is an update

I think that was just the angle of the picture - the water has 180g worth of salt in it already, so it is way too salty and hassn't all been dissolved yet - that should happen tonight once I get the whole system running.
You can see from the fornt picture, that the water is relatively clear.
Full of water tonight and running with the turbine pump - that thing is powerful.

only thing done is hooked up all the tanks and the water is running through them. The pictures would be the same, but just with water in them.

Here is a tank for frags - rack included - those are not frags, wipe your chops - that is rubble for the frags (thanks again Alrha)
Some flow for you flow hungry SPS'ers - OM on the move - I like . . . . .
Skimmer in the sump doing it's thing . . . .
Skimmer and sump view - note the drains and plumbing in the rear . . . .
Here is the fuge as it outlets to the tank - gravity feed - no pod mutilation
Here is the fuge with the water being pumped up and in and draining into the main tank . . .
In case you're wondering - I redesigned the sump drains - they were making a ton of noise and not draining properly (more elbows and couplers :-()

And last, but not least - the southdown dilemma, waiting for the dust to settle . . . .
