Cali,
The carpenter said he would drive an 18 wheeler on it :) Very strong - I didn't get your email. I may have but often delete my spam resend it to [email protected]

Marrone, I decided to go with one 50g long as a sump, a 30g as a fuge and a 20g frag tank. I plan to build shelves over the sump (with enough room to get in and out) to house these two extra tanks. I wasn't able to fit the 2 55's underneath.

Jhale - after I got the 55g drum, I took out the shelving. Worked for then and took it out since.

CTX - I still plan on getting a chiller because of the lights and how much heat they will generate. Using a Pacific Coast 1/4 HP.

More specs:

Lighting: 4/250 MH's XM 10k's - dual 160 URI Pure Actinics driven by an icecap 660

I am using a Panworld pump 200PS-MD70R at 1750 gph and will run another Mag 9.5 with an Oceanmotions 4 way plumbed out of the sump.

Dual Durso overflows.

I will be doing a plenum in the main tank and a deep sand bed in the fuge (so I can discard when necessary). The frag tank will have nothing but a rack and tons of frags :)

I have 200;bs of live rock in my current tank and 95 lbs of reeferrocks pourous base rock. I will start the tank up with 45 lbs more of Premium Fiji from a vendor. I will also take select pieces from my current display to jump start the new tank (pods and all).

I think that's it for now.

Jim,

Are you going to finish or insulate the cinder block wall? Part of my basement walls are not insulated and I was having a hard time keeping the tanks warm in my fish room this winter, I had four 300W heaters going at once on most days. Getting the heat and the humidity out will be a challenge for me this summer; I am going to try an inline ventilating fan first.

Cali,

I don't plan to insulate that room. I did that on purpose to keep the tank cool in the Summer. I have a 500w heater and a back up 300w. I am thinking that the lighting will keep it warm enough to not stress out the heating system.

As for the opposite - the room has a small window that was just replaced and I can put an exaust fan into it (and plan to do this) to take out any additional heat. I also have an additional windo on the other side of the basement to run a floor model AC unit if I have to.

I don't plan on keeping a humidifier in there as I don't want to have that taking the humidity out of the tank :) - Since my auto top-off is a 55g, I may reconsider.

Should be a challenge to keep it warm in the winter and cool in the summer - such is reefkeeping in the northeast :)

haha jim, your not out of your mind. your tank will look wonderful there. there are many other tanks on that site that are huge as well. but i can't wait to see that one finished to see what he actually puts in there, and that has to be the largest room divider i have ever seen
wish i was in whales so i could go and see it in person

That pan world is a great pump. You'll be happy that you decided to go with it.

Jim with the Panworld you will have the option of using penductor on your returns if you need more flow. A pressure pump is really the only option with all the plumbing you will have since you depend on the flow from the pump.

As for the 290w's......it is 100w's less than a comparable iwaki if that makes you feel any better
