Phosphate Level Is High. How To Remove Of It?

my phosphate level is .12 according to a hanna phos meter that pauliwalnuts tested for me.

i have been getting in my sand bed a brown algae growing on it. sand bed only. i can move the sand bed around, and within 2 hours its back. i use RO water, and i have GFO running, but i still have phosphates. What are some tricks to removing phosphates out of the water? and, whats best way to remove the brown algae?

i use GFO and replace it every month - month and a half. RO water only.




i moved all the sand around at 2pm and made it look white again. then i took this picture at 4:40pm. back already

So you're not using RO/DI then?Add a canister of the DI and don't move the sand so much.It causes blooms and such.Carbon helps too

Reduce you feeding to once a day.

sorry sorry, RODI. and i run ESV carbon in my nextreef shorty reactor. change it every 3 weeks...

GFO is in my Kent phos reactor, tumbling lightly with a marineland euro pump. only thing wad i ran out and got a brand of GFO i never heard of. GFO is GFO right? brand should not matter? it says GFO.

feeding schedual...ive been slacking on. use to be once to twice a day. then it went to onces every day or two. now its once every 2 or so days. and every now and then some pellets if i remember before i run out...

water change is either once a week. 20 gallons. lately once every other week 20 gallons. its my 57 rimless

reguardless if you transferred stuff from the other tank in sitting this one up, your still going to have a cycle which the tank is starting to settle in, this is what i was getting at on your other thread with sps
