I did bring it up too 8 on jarretts recommendation but I've noticed my sps don't like alk higher than 9 I shoot for 8 don't go below 7

ive always found for me mounting the corals sideways has helped the growth as it will grow towards the light

Isn't the Alk pretty low? I keep mine closer to 10 and cal I also keep higher than 400. I think an Alk that low can cause some issues. I'm newer to keeping sps also so maybe someone else can back this up....

Ya thats the range i shoot for too. I've found if i keep my alk closer to 10 the calcium is in the 480-500 range. Growth has def gotten alot better since i've got dosing the 2-part down and keep the levels stabel in this range.

Rick that's a great idea I'm gonna give that a shot ! But Im missing something with my tank just can't figure it out ! I'm just not getting the growth on my acros I'm very happy with the growth of my other sps

Your Alk and pH seem low. What is the pH inside the Ca reactor?

My reactor ph is 6.8 right now I do dose kalk through my rodi ato to aid keeping ph up

I run my cal @ 475 and alk 8-10 also ....I notice when my PH drops below 8 I lose some color and slows growth...then I know to add more kalk to my top off. I tried mounting frags on their sides also. I notice for me they encrust faster, but take alot longer to grow upwards....

Ny topping off with kalk water doesn't that alao raise ur alk also not just ur ph .I was thinking about adding kalk to my ato but my cal reactor right now is keeping my alk at 10.2 I'm afraid by adding kalk to my top off it would bring the alk up to high .any thoughts on that

Charlie I was haveing same issue I had to dial back my cal reactor a bit to take into account the kalk

I got u what reactor are u running Matt also what's ur ph in ur reactor at .my ph coming outta the reactor is 7.05 that's keeping my alk at around 10.2 in my tank.also how much kalk do u add to a gallon of water

Also do u guys have a ph probe in the reactor and in the tank I have the reef keeper light controlling my cal reactor I think I would need another sl1 or an sl2 to add another probe right

My reactor has the probe inside the reactor I'm still new to cal reactors but agree with u I'd like to get a second ph monitor so I can keep an eye on the ph level in the tank right now I'm using a test kit to check it
Right now inside reactor ph is around 6.8

yea I have to dial back the reactor to compensate which is a good thing because the CO2 and media will last longer. I also have a PH probe in a effluent cup whcih tells right away what the PH is coming out the reactor and if anything is wrong before it effects the tank....

Yeah mike I seen ur setup and did the same thing u did .miles right Matt u much rather test the ph combining outta the reactor rather than the tank this was u have some time to fix any issues if u just check the tank .it may be to late .so mike when u wanna check ur tanks ph u just pull the probe outta the enfulant cup and dip it in the tank right .also Whatta u aim for when dripping alk whats optimal ph and how much kalk per gallon of r/0 water

IInside my reactor my ph is at 7.0 to 7.2 this keeps me at about 10.2 in my tank .everyone may be diff to to load in the tank I'm pretty stocked and my reactor is an mtc dual chamber so its supposed to be more efficient and when having a dual chamber theres less of a drop in ph .not sure how true that is but that's what I've read

actor gets lower than 6.5 it shuts the solinoid off and stops the co2 getting pumped into the reactor
