We really do need a larger location for swaps. I'm tired I'm going and being pushed and shoved around just to look at a vendor. Plus it was so loud and hot due to it being small. Larger location means more vendors can bring more supplies and corals, which means larger vendor booths which should stretch it out a bit more and give everyone a little more breathing room

There is public transport to atlantis.....lirr goes right to riverhead...and its a short cab ride or reefer ride from the train station...infact you could even walk its probly less than 2 miles. However im biases as i live in same town as atlantis.

Do we really need to complain already? Geeez. Please be my guest and take the initiative and find an AFFORDABLE, appropriately sized venue that meets our needs location wise and amenity wise ( needs include use of the space for 2 days) and volunteer to organize and host it. Once you've put even 5 hrs of effort into it, you'll start getting REALLY annoyed at the petty complaints. I would be VERY happy to not host two of these events in less than a year, really I would.

well my estimation JUST AN ESTIMATION is 20 vendors at 400 per vendor which is what i heard and 25 dollars a pop per entry .so thats around 10 to 11 grand.so unless MR is looking to make a profit i dont think finding a space for an event like this would be to difficult.i dont know if MR needs to insure a event like this so that might put everything in a whole new ballpark.as for food there is no other expo that i have been that had food and drinks so i still feel they dont need it.if my vendor price is off then thats also another problem.and i also believe MRuses volenteers so there isnt any overhead.before people jump on me im just discussing not disputing

here's a novel thought, if you don't like the venue, don't come! Plenty of people would be happy to take your spot. It blows my mind that people think planning these events is a walk in the park. If it were as simple as "the location must fit x amount of people" don't you think it would have been done already? Frankly, it is very insulting to the people who bend over backwards to organize these events to hear all of this complaining MONTHS before the swap.

a good place is the fire house that the NJ site use's, was plenty of space, they have a kitchen so people that are hunger can choose and pay for their food

Question is,even if MR make profit out of it, it's not hundreds of thousands of dollars. Look at it that way. And I highly doubt this event is really profit-oriented but rather a way to promote the site. MR uses volunteers because they want to help and nobody expect to be paid. I am starting to suspect that more and more people think MR is a money sucking vampire. Even if it was, so what? If it was one of us who give his/her time and efforts to run a site like that, wouldn't it be cool if you make a couple of $$ on it. Look at it from another angle- do you have to pay to become a member here? No. Does MR have any limits for it's free members? No. Is it nice that you can attend a large scale swap two times a year here in the city for a price of lunch and freebies that you grab while attending? Certainly YES.
There's nothing wrong with expressing your opinion about this forum and the way it is run, but bi^$%#&ing about something that is virtually free is another thing.
And hey, BTW, Pratt has free parking so you don't have to carry that 200g salt mix you're gonna buy for 10 blocks
