A few companies have been raising their prices a little. The reasoning is anything from higher cost of materials to upgraded parts. With the global economy the way it is I don't blame them. It gets more expensive to run the business and buy the materials plus their suppliers are probably raising prices on their raw materials as well. It adds up.

They are already high up in price and im sure they are making a nice gross profit on their products already. You dont become one of inc.'s 500 fastest growing company with little net income. Don't get me wrong I have an MP10 and MP40 and love them.

Do you see Apple increasing their prices on the Itouch because of a material cost? Nope

No, they just squeeze the carriers for higher subsidy cost. Unfortunately, there is no carriers to squeeze here. Apple gets approximately $632 from carriers for every iPhone sold. $299 isn't the gross price.

Ok how about Aquaillumination compared to Ecotech. They actually dropped their price also.

Widdy, I was talking about the Itouch not Iphone. I see your point in that sense though.

You're right, I read wrong -- apologies. If tomorrow's Sprint 20billion rumor holds true, they can afford to drop the iPod Touch's price even more. ;)

The entire cost increase in the Vortech Propeller Pumps is due to the global shortage on Rare Earth Magnets. Read this article and you'll understand. EcoTech Marine announced the reason for their price increase as the supply chain for neodymium magnets coming from China is in short supply.

The manufacturing cost of a pump is still at least a hundred if not hundreds of dollars above what it costs to make these pumps. The Vortech pumps are a privileged breed, they have the luxury of sitting on a niche market where the competition is nearly non-existent with the exception of the Tunze pumps and let's face it for every 1 Tunze pump that gets sold about 5 Vortechs are sold in return.

Is there really a shortly of rare minerals? Yes there is, would Vortech go out of buisness if they just ate the cost and moved on, hell no! Their manufacturing costs are nothing compared to what they actually sell these units for. Since there is very little to no competition to worry about instead of eating the cost like any other laptop or pc manufacturer has to do (which is also impacted by rare mineral shortage btw in a MUCH bigger way) they simply pass it down to us (the end user) and choose not to take a hit on profit.

Yea this is a shame!!! I have 2 MP20 which they dont make anymore and I wanted to get 1 or 2 new spare wet sides. But for $75 each that is way to much. And I know I could get other pumps for that price not just a wet side.. They do have a nice produce but they want to rape us for it.. Now they want to get even more money NUTS!!! I dont know about any of you guys but my pay check is going down so if they dont see that the people that buy there produce cant aford it them they can raise the price as much as they want and they can hope someone buys it but wont last long if we all cant afford it.. Plus I think my gas and electic bills have to get paid first (and they have some who knows why reason for raiseing they prices too!)
