Yeah, I say stick with what you got for now. If you're shooting for $1000 - you know it'll never stay within that budget! It never does; and long-term the expenses will go up also. :headache: I upgraded to a 72 from 29 in August and I'm itching for a bigger tank, but I know long-term I won't be able to afford it. Short term I figure I can just charge it, but paying that off - with the new increased expenses - will take an effort. So unless you know for certain you can afford it long-term...be patient! :bablefish

Also, as someone pointed out, remember that upgrades mean you'll lose livestock. I lost all but one fish (Coral Beauty) and my cleaner shrimp in the transfer!

You are not good enough to keep your live stock alive during the upgrade so don't go bigger. J/K J/K

BTW, is it really that dangerous in upgrading? I have seen many members saying they lost LS during the move.

I am thinking of going bigger too:banghead: 55G does not enough room to design the aquascape I wanted.

you tank water has nothing to do with it cycling or not, its the rock and in your case the sandbed that is of use. there really is no use to old tank water, a 100% WC if matched with prior params is a lot better nutrient wise, any planktonic organisms in your water that exist will repopulate the new water within hrs to days

Agreed.

When I moved the whole setup from my seller-I used all new water and only his old rocks. I lost an urchin which I think I accidentally kill it by placing him in a cup thinking that it would sting my other coral. I left it there probably too long.

But that levae me wondering what went wrong with slama's upgrade-he said he lost couple items. Didn't he uses most of his old rocks too?
Don't wanna fall for the same error when I upgrade.

Wingo, Slama lost a couple pieces because he has a LOAD of SPS. In a move things get bumped around and stressed. He didn't lose stuff because his tank went through a nitrogen cycle again.

Upgrades are a funny thing ,when you go from 50 to 90 its not as hard as large upgrades wait until you go large .more work ...lol but i know you will do well ,yougot lots of energy ,but make sure you stay at this size ,you are theupgrade master ,next to ink ,are you guys having a race ,ll0l

IE
More water ,rock ,live stock ,bigger tanks to move around.More pppl needed .Temp in the buckets that you leaves your live stock in ,Then the temp and water para in your new tank and the list gos on.
I did a move not long ago .fromthe 2nd fl to the 6th i lost a few heads off a torch and one off a hammer .
As for Slamas fish .We are a bunch of nuckleheads
