I've been running both 250w DE 10K and 250w SE 10K for about 4 weeks now and here are my observations.

The SE, on an electronic EVC ballast, burned a really garish pink in the beginning. Only in the last few days have I noticed the shift towards a crisper white color.

The DE, on Aquamedic HQI ballast, has always been a white/blue color but it doesn't appear to be as bright as the SE - at least to my eyes. So, this part actually seems consistent with what Steve noticed in terms of brightness.

sorry, didn't have a SE only shot, but these should give you a good idea. btw, if you're ever in north jersey and would like to see them in person, give me a shout.

I'm Running the 150Watt DE Reeflux 10K bulbs for about 3 weeks now. I really like the color even without my small actinic suppliment. It appears white with a hint of blue. Definatly nowhere near the 10K aqualine bulbs i pulled out (very yellow but brighter). I cant vouch for color changes over time yet. I am running them on an Aquaspacelight (3x150) with electronic ballasts.

Tony uses the 400w on EVC electronic ballast and they look awesome ...blue/white

Sting used the 10k's on an Aquamedic HQI ballast and the bulb looked piss yellow.

I would definitely not use this bulb if you are running an HQI ballast.

Gil, looks nice to me. Are the actinics on as well?

indeed they are. i just noticed that if you look at the tunzes, you can see the different color casts from the bulbs. the SE really appears much brighter than the DE in person.

Strange thing is, I'm running an Aquamedic HQI ballast on the left side of the tank. There is definitely no yellow. Nothing but white and blue.

Sting uses SE, you are using DE. There are differences in bulbs of the same color temp by the same company from SE to DE. XM is a great example of this.

I just put my 400w 10k in two days ago. They look a little yellow but I think they need a burn in period of a hundred hrs. before I will see their true colors. What do you guys think?

This is why I wanted to get the reeflux bulbs. I saw the bulbs running on his tank and it looked great. I will be running it on the same ballast as him (250watts though), so I am hoping for something similar. Now the only thing is, Im having a hard time deciding between the 10k's and 12k's. A few of my sps look like **** cause they're browning out. These bulbs are hitting about a year now.
