NY has really low tds readings. the national average is 150.
I've read that people have readings way into the hundreds on RC.
even after an RO filter they are happy if they are reading 50.
I freak out if mine goes over 2.

why would Ossining be 270 and Queens be 30ish?

I think most of us grew up drinking tap water.
Do kids these days even know what tap water tastes like?
I wonder what was in all that water I drank from the fountains in public school?

I'd like to carry a TDS meter with me for a little while and test the water where ever I am. Do you think it would freak people out if you tested a glass of water in a resturant, and then shook your head and said, oh this is not good. ;)

he he, that would be fun. perhaps pull over the manager and say something like "The TDS in your water is reading above acceptable levels and is in violation of MR codes. I can of course keep my mouth shut if the meal is complimentary."

i would guess that NYC has much more advanced water treatment facilities that just cleans it out better.
I bet the source water would have similar TDS levels - they're not feeding you radioactive water up there.

You can go here if you want to check out your water sheds water quality and your tap water quality. It also gives you tables as to what is acceptable levels of gunk that the Gov. feels you and your family can take.
