I have a 75 gallon also, and I have an Eheim 1262, at 900 gph...with all of my current problems in the tank, not to sure if it is enough, but it certainly is quiet:) originally I had a Gen X pump which was so loud, we heard it upstairs on the other side of the house...my poor dog was actually afraid of it...LOL Good luck with your tank

All the pumps mentioned above are good pumps, but each one has its good and bad.
The Iwakis are high head pumps, with the 1 you mentioned you can have a head of 60'+
the Blulines are a clone of the Iwaki, with their own twist.
Panworld is the same exact copy of the blueline.
Every pump has a curve and power draw, and head height. And warranty differs quite a lot.
depending on how much you want to spend, and how quite you want it will determine the pump for you.
It is very easy to say get a mag, or get a Eheim, or etc.
let me give you an example. Mag 18 vs a Blueline 70.
They both can move 1800gph.
Mag 20' head Blueline 39' head
Mag 145 w Blueline 290 w
Mag $170.00 Blueline 250.00
So far so good right.
well here is the kicker,
Mag generates a lot of heat and Blueline doesn't.
Mag runs very quite, but the blueline uses a fan to keep it cool so its a bit noisy.
You have a ton of choices this is just 2, I can add 4 more models with the same gph at 0' of head.
I hope I didn't confuse you all.
But the decision comes down to what is best for you, If the pump is in the basement than you don't have to worry about noise. but with that comes head height, and price.

Rich you are awesome. You didn't confuse me, just opened the door further to really decide what pump to buy...

Great choices. IMO in the order from least favorite to most
TS-790
BL-55
BL-40HD-X
my reasons are as follows.
BL-40 is very quite compared to the other 2
BL-40 has more gph than both
1" in and 1" out, this is great
You loose a little on head pressure, but you had mentioned only about 6' oh head.

BL55 is a tsd louder but not much compared to the BL40
you gain an head height but loose on gph at 0' head., but only 170ghp.
1" in and 1" out this is great.

TS-790
best on power consumption, but loss of gph.
a lot noisier than the other 2
3/4" in and 3/4" out.
I try to stay away from this just because of my stupid mistakes of not putting netting on my drains, and having small snails getting stuck.

THESE ARE ONLY MY OPINIONS.

I am actually 8-9 feet of head.. You still think that the BL-40 is the better one?

Hey man, you asked for peoples opinions and I gave you mines. Here's another one, for free. Lol.
A pump that is oversized (in your mind) can easily be regulated with a valve, and a smaller one can be used later on a frag tank.
Next one I'll have to charge you for it. Lmao. J/K

LOL! I appreciate all the opinions, that is why I am asking.

And you are right 100% with your statement. What do you think a good water turn over is?? You think it should be more than 7 times??

I think paulie(forest gump)walnuts is thinking the same thing ive been thinking you most likley have more than 8 feet of head. But only you can tell. I like the rimless tank its nice.

Here is where the sump is... If you see the window on the right (that does not go outside it goes through the wall into my family room. The floor of the family room is near the bottom of that window....

So if you look at it, you will see that it is about 3 feet or so from the platform, and then it will go through that window straight up to the tank. so my 8-9 foot of head is what it is. I will actually measure it tomorrow and let you guys know..

The sump itself is a couple feet off the floor..

Glad to know that some people,on here, have a sense of humor. Thanks buddy.
I was told by the old school that 10 is the minimum. The more turn over, the more oxygen for your animals.
