Here is some information regarding our use of the facility as well as some ideas for what to do if you need a break from the swap!

---------------------------------------------------------------

Just a little note from your Frag Swap host. With only a few days left before the big event, I just wanted to give you a little update on what to expect. Your MR mods and I have been hard at work to make this the best local reefing event of the year. I think we have achieved something beyond a frag swap--more like a nano-conference with internationally recognized speakers, livestock vendors, show specials from Icecap and ESV, raffles, auctions, and of course frags, frags, frags.

As you know, we have limited admission to the swap this year due space constraints and in the hopes of maintaining a more intimate atmosphere. In this spirit, there are a few things you need to know--and many you already know, but I?ll reiterate them anyway:

1) If you don?t have a ticket, please don?t show up and try to ?find a way in?. This event is taking place in my office and there are certain rules I need to comply with to allow this to happen.
2) This is a college campus, and while classes are not in session on Sundays, students will likely be around--some trying to work in their studios down the hall. Please treat them with the respect they deserve? this goes for the security and maintenance staff too.
3) THIS IS A DRY EVENT (Well, except for salt water) there is absolutely no alcohol allowed.
4) Please treat my space with respect too. My office opens for business at 9:00 A.M. Monday and needs to be in shape to do so. To this end, try to be as careful as possible when you are trading your livestock. If you spill something, do your best to clean it up. I?ll make sure there are paper towels everywhere!!!
5) Those of you who are driving will be allowed to park in the lot on campus. The security officer at the entrance to the parking lot on Willoughby Avenue will direct you accordingly.
6) The Swap will take place in the Writing Center, which is located on the 1st floor of North Hall. North Hall is located at the Willoughby Ave. end of the red brick pathway that runs through campus (those of you who are NOT driving will be entering campus on Dekalb Avenue at the opposite end of the path. We will post some signs to show you the way, but pretty much anyone on campus can point you in the right direction. Those entering from the parking lot, can enter the rear of North Hall (the guards will show you) and walk up to the 1st floor and proceed down to the end of the Hallway? the rest will be obvious.

For those of you who are bringing non-hobbyist folks with you (Why they want any part of this madness is beyond meJ) there are several things of interest in the area:

1) The grounds of the campus have been turned into a sculpture park, and if the weather is good, it is a lovely place to wander and relax.
2) The Architecture in the surrounding neighborhoods of Clinton Hill and Fort Green is some of the nicest in Brownstone Brooklyn.
3) There are numerous nice restaurants on Dekalb Avenue as you walk towards Fort Green.
4) Directly opposite the ?G? train on the corner of Washington and Lafayette is a great playground called Underwood Park.
5) I just found out there is a major juggling festival in the gym all weekend. It ends sometime midday on Sunday and is always a lot of fun.

I don?t know about you, but I can?t wait for the weekend to come.

I look forward to meeting all of you,

Randy
