new "cool" zoas? worth the price tag?

Since it looked like jr973 took it the wrong way and his response looked like he took offense to it. Sorry if it came off wrong and I've never been on this forum to fight or make anyone feel like I was questioning them. It was just a question.

Anyone care to comment without getting something stuck up their anus because it was just a question.

Thanks ;)

personally as someone who has been collecting zoa's on and off since i started the hobby, ive never felt that some of these zoa's are worth the asking price. i dont knock people for selling them at whatever price, but just like any other zoa 6 months later they are worth a 1/4 what they was selling for, example look at all the hornet zoa's, nice zoa but not worth the tag, but then again that could be said about most corals

Hey I didn't take offense to it and can relate to your statement but its threads like this that keep things in order imo. This hobby is what you make it you being any "reefer" vendors aren't forceing anyone to buy a price gets posted and if noone bites that price get reduced I felt that being a local member I should give a good deal to the board members which I do believe I did hence even droppin the price to what I felt was more appropriate. If someone is willin to pay it that's always a choice every one has key word being Choice. I hope I don't come off as a wise guy but its the facts when people can't sell for askin price the only thing that happens is a price reduction or OBO post.

I'm sorry for stating it in your for sale thread. I really didn't mean anything by it. I was just surprised at the price for 2 polyps. I've seen other zoas in that range but had insane random colors. even during the hornet craze didn't think they were selling that high.

Are the polyp heads HUGE?

Everyone has their right to sell at their price they set.

Obviously if it's too much then it won't get sold. Looks like yours were sold so I guess that's the normal price.

I'm with nyreefnoob. I wait for the price to get down a little.

Id range the polyp size around a purple hornet and no disrespect to Ben251 but 2p for 100 compared to 4 different zoas in my pack for 125 isn't much to think about there. I also like to wait a bit for zoas or any piece to drop in price but if the opportunity presents its self and I can afford it why not in this hobby compared to freshwater or anyother hobby is that 1 can recoupe his/her initial investment through fraggin which is what I like not too mention payin for maintenace and additives on your tanks. let's face it this hobby is addicting too me unfortunaetly it happen to be the high end corals that leaves me broke at the end of the week, lol, but no complaints

STRAIGHTJIGGY. I want a frag of everything in your tank. not joking. I will take a few every other week! ha

but to get back to the subject. that's what I love about this hobby as well. I recently started purchasing colonies since fragging will cover 50% of the cost after fragging.

it is compulsive human behavior (the need for the newest ish) combined with marketing/hype = expensive corals. i was pissed about it when I got back into the hobby after a long hiatus and noticed such a collectors mentality. now, ehhh, I'm used to it. let them eat cake. :) I agree with Rick, I see the big deal about some of these corals but the hype behind many of them is beyond me.

I felt this particular coral was like buying the name. like buying tylenol over the generic. or buying popcorn at the movies. no hate. I'll probably purchase it when it gets down to about 15$ a polyp in about 2 months lol.
