Morning all,
Does anyone have any experience with a mystery wrasse? I was reading up on them and they said they can be kind of territorial. The LFS said as long as I add him last I should be fine. Right now in my 75 gallon tank I have a flame hawk fish, an indigo dottyback, a starry blenny, a spotted mandarin and a shark nose goby (who is small but fast). I also have a rather large cleaner shrimp, a banded coral shrimp and a porcelian crab. Would he be alright with them? Also, i am still in the process of lowering my nitrates which now hover between 15 and 20(much better than the 50 that they were but still not great). Would he be alright with that? Because some things I've read said you have to have pristine water quality when you add one. Thanks for any input:)

My mystery has killed most of the other wrasse that I tried to introduce after he was put in the tank. But he has left all the other fish alone. I don't have trates, so I can't answer the part of your question.

Thanks Awibrandy...he would be the last addition to the tank anyway...I just wasn't sure if he would bother any of my tank mates or if the nitrAtes would bother him..he is such a cool looking fish..hope all is well with your grandaughter!

Glad I could help! I don't believe the low nitrates you have will be a problem.

My granddaughter is doing great!!!! She is now a whopping 7lbs.9oz!;) Small for most people's standard for a 2 month old, but considering that she was born at 3lbs. 14oz, and delivered 6 weeks early we consider it a great accomplishment.
Thank you so much for remembering Jade.:)

Jim, what size tank do you have?

Albano has a monster tank.lol Plenty of room there.;)

My tank is only 155 g, and I stand by my Mystery Wrasse going after all new wrasse additions. I have seen him in action when new wrasse have been introduced to the system, and the new wrasse never to be seen again.;(

To those of you with Mystery's co-habitating peacefully with other wrasse, which was introduced first? I've been thinking about adding a trio of Cirrhilabrus to my tank [500g, barebottom] but I have a long established Mystery that has been a model citizen up to this point. Or should I just leave this apple cart alone?

As mentioned, I've added more than 10 new wrasses (some <2") into my DT with a long established 4"+ mystery wr.
BUT...I always use the acclimation box for a day or 2...to prevent problems
