I picked up this clown fish from a vendor I would rather not say right now and I am wondering if this is a true black ice clown. Please be honest and dont hold back I rather find the truth out and not worry or find the truth out and ask for a refund as I alrdy had a problem with the first 1 I received. These are the best pics I can take hope its enough. Thank you very much in advance.

How big is it (That should help determine age). A Black Ice would get darker as it matures.

Looks like a Black ice to me....looks ocellaris, and has cool white stripes/markings. So I would say Snowflake at worst, but I do think its a Black Ice.

Nice Lyertail!

I would also like to thank Willie not sure if he posted on this thread but he was my life saver the other day so Thank you Willie

The fish on the left is the one you are given in the swap and you said mentors said it is not a Black Ice.

Please also ask your mentors what is the fish on the right.

1st that was not the fish giving to me at the swap and 2nd your attitude and lack of respect towards your customers is the reason you have this post. You seen someone who did not know what a black ice looked liked and try to pull a fast one. I will never recommend you to anyone due towards you scammish ways. I did not put you on blast but since you want to try and make yourself look like the honest vendor know you are on blast. I would like the few people who did see my fish to please say something so vendors like this one doesn't hurt the hobby and honest people in this hobby. If this forum is for the hobby and not about money then I ask other vendors and members and the mods and Josh to do something to stop vendors from trying to scam YOUR members from there $. If I get banned or what ever for speaking the truth then it was well worth it 100%. And for the people that think Im in it for something ask the vendors who had a table or ask the helpers like myself who help setup the swap If I did my part in helping set up. I am the one who moved all the water for the swap in my car and helped a few vendors set up.

I did not see the original fish, but

Keep in mind that clowns with black genes will get darker with age for up to 1 year. There is also no guarantee of color in a black ice as there is great variety in each clutch as far as looks go.

I am not sure which fish you are given then.

These are all the fish(including the dead one plus two more that was picked up before your pick up) of that type(or Black Ice lookalike) I bought to the swap that day. They are displayed publicly in the swap so anyone who has come to the swap would be able to tell whether I have a Black Ice type fish lesser quality than the ones in these pics. Check the pic taken my a third party at the day of the swap and tell me which fish you are given.

If you claimed there isn't a fish among this pic was the one you are given in the swap, I have nothing more to say because, you could have dreamed about I gave you a baby OC with the persuasion advise from your mentors. You saw me catch the fish in the tank so I am sure you did not think that I gave you a baby OC at the time and that you know the fish you mentioned is in public display that day. You can punish me for being arrogant but you cannot punish me for telling you the truth. I did not think that you are a bad person but DO STRONGLY THINK you are under the influence of others(including stealth vendors) in clouding your judgement.

BTW, I know I am an HONEST vendor including to tell you not to spend extra money on buying the extra red LED from me. If you think the way I sell is scammish, you should look at your other mentors and their agendas who is actively helping non MR vendors in selling their fish.

Just wondering, I know you probably won't want to give an exact number which I understand completely, but what was the price range for him?

I can tell you the exact price of all the the fish involved.

When he first came to buy the LEDs, he said he also wanted to look at the clowns. I told him that the Black Ice in my tank are $100, he said his mentors said "I can sell him" or "they are $80". I told him that that's not true because I sell picasso at $80 and Black Ice at $100. I then told him I can preorder Black Ice at $80 and that they are smaller-thinking he knows some of the referrers and might as well give a friendship price. Immediately, he gave me cash for the fish. I said I will send him an invoice to remind myself what was agreed on-knowing that I may forget about I am offering him a lower price than my regular price. I also said he should bring the invoice so to remind me of what's agreed on or I would argue with him again on price in the swap.

The one in his tank now is the one he saw the first time in my place and that he has paid $80 for which I agreed to him in the swap that he can pick up this $100 fish for no price difference after he claimed his mentor said the fish is not a Black Ice.

Well Wingo, I'll just say one thing. And this is with TOTAL and unswayed from anyone honesty, while some have said you are pricey with your product(LED's), they have also said that you are a truly honest and squared away person with great morals when it comes to sales, as well as helping people if you can.

I think that shows, not only in former posts, but in that you called yourself out. he said he didn't want to mention names, you came out and made it evident it that you were the vendor at hand. Another sign that you are honest and not afraid to discuss matters in an open forum.

The last 2 notes I have to point out is what I have seen more and more lately and is the reason i don't post nearly as much anymore, they are:

1) people have seemed to forgotten what value discreetness holds, both in how people perceive you, as well as how much more help will be received if you're not one that as they thought about things after a sale and start to get worried they will try to "quietly" hammer a vendor by leaving the name out, knowing that the vendor will read it. PM's are a WONDERFUL tool to use, they tend to get more results than you'll ever think they would, especially in a descent purchase that was of high priced "limited edition" corals or "designer fish" because a head or two of dendro and a regular old clown just don't cut it anymore.

2) When I first joined here, nobody called out vendors in ANY way in public until it HAD to be done- then the person probably wouldn't be a vendor anymore because Josh has taken a lot of precaution to make sure everyone does their part that's involved in the site in a business way, they pay to be a vendor and are held to a very high moral standard.

In fact when I joined and still ALL of our vendors ALWAYS make things right(although theyre usually right the first time) and they have always had better prices than any fish store that I've walked in. I've never seen a venfor in the last 2 years do anything bad to anyone. If you had a question about the fish-PM's could have taken care of it.

Sorry about the novel, just felt like calling it how I've seen it since '09

Best of luck with everything and I hope all works out well for BOTH parties.

I love my two baby clowns I got from these guys!

I think one might be a misbar or something because his last white stripe is incomplete, more like a white dot on his back. Maybe he's just not fully grown yet. They are the size of my pinky nail.

Thanks, they're doing great!

(Sorry to go off topic).

Guy what you dont realize is that there is no uniform look for any of these clowns. These names are getting insane and they all look different.

Most clowns dont get black or darker colors till they get older. Most stay orange or yellow until they are over about 2 inches. What at age 6 months looks like a black ice could in a year turn out to be all black or no black.

I cant beleive the prices of clowns that are simply misbarred. Not so long ago these fish would have been sold at a discount because they didnt look like a full barred healthy fish.

Let's start by saying I did say something quietly to wingo and I was told I would get a high grade black ice and did not at the swap. Then when I told him about it he was all upset and told me I can have the one I seen in his house. When I did go pick up the fish he was still so upset that he placed the fish in one bag and while trying to place it in a second bag shook the bag multiple time until I said stop ill take it like that. That's not a way ppl do business. If you are a friend of his or received a great deal in the past im happy for you but I did not it was by far the worst experience I have ever had on this forum and I for the most part am a stand up guy. I will help others no charge no asking for anything like we should do. Wingo you was upset and acted like a idiot be a man and man up.
