Hey all just wanted to introduce myself im dee and im just starting in this hobby use to work for lfs but that was long time ago and never really had the chance to start my own sw tank.anyway spent alot of time in other site forums but then i found this place and decided that it would be better to be close to home ,im in the bronx.i have a 29 gal and my temp is 76,amo 0ppm,trites 0ppm,trates 40~my only issue so far.ls (going to make it deeper tomorrow)lr~5lbs in tank now but curing 22lbs as i type.fluval 204,aquaclear sub heater,skilter(not to pleased with performance)standard light fixture with a 10,000k ocean sun bulb.one turbo snail,two percs,one three stripe damsel,one clam from fish market.

i'll just start by saying im a family man,work,all that good stuff and im really into gaming xbox360 anyway since i started wich was about a month and a half ago i havent even touched my 360 which is my second love to my family but i have to say that the 360 has taken a back seat to my new found hobby.:sgrin:

i used to work in petland way back anyway one of the guys who was heavy in to his sw tank bought a clam and it did pretty good so for my first test i got the clam 25 cents the same clam that goes for 5.99 in some site anyway he is doing great and i took a liking to him:wink1: .and im on shakespeare 167.was on fordham the other day such a big place no lfs with sw fish from there to here, have to go to third ave to get something and there shops are small with maybe one or two tanks:banghead: .

no doubt i grew up on 144th and willis went to school at morris h.s my thing is in the future i want to get atleast one anenome and i read that i need an mh but i heard others say that you can use a p.c i want to know which is better? my tanks depth is 18 1/2 inches so if anyone can recommend one that would be great and plus i want to get some corals too.

im not suggesting u should get them for you tank specifically.

Just wanted to throw another option out there to look into besides PCs and MH.
T-5 lighting is relatively new on the scene. Um....you should do a lot of reading up before making your mind on what to buy. So decide if you want to do corals and what type of coral, let us know, and then u can give u better advice. :)

Btw...just use the Search function on the site and type in "T-5" and you should get a few results back.

This thread below has been one of my fav. The guy that writes it is very entertaining and gives good info. He gives the basics of reefiing hobby.

will check it out i have plenty of time to research.i want my tank to age a bit before i go ahead with the anenome,but i have did some checking into easy corals for starters.i want to get my trates down first there at 40 and i read that its no good for corals and anenomes.hey check this out im not to sure what this is i got it with my lr shipment wich is curing right now but i want to know if this will come back to life it seems like it but then again it could just be algae.im not sure if the image was inserted if not let me know how to thanks

look like favites. white region is dead (bleeched). if the green blots are coral flesh, then it could come back to life...but very low possibilty since ur tank is not stable yet.

thanks e boy i love this place already.this is my 29 gal still under construction lol.no rushing just trying to keep everything in orderand some live rock curing.

Cool, you must be excited! There are a lot of really great folks on this board with a lot of experience. Have fun!

BTW, the coral in the top pic really looks like a goner to me. Maybe even, been gone for a bit already.
