Iodide and iodine are different and the second one is deadly.
Do considerable amounts of research on this.
I'm no reef chemist, I just wanted you to have a quick answer.

Given the great potential for risk, I think this and other dosing threads should be in the advanced topic.

i dose 3 drops of kent iodide a day - for my inverts & chaeto. so far so good, shrimps have molt once a month & chaeto doubled. i thought iodine was only used for dipping (as lugol's) and an antiseptic.

anyone ever overdose? what happens? i noticed once after i dosed that a few of my snails looked dead, all stretched out of their shells.. i did a big water change and they were ok after a day.. but if over dosed what could happen to fish? corals? what is the most affected?

I see no significant change in my corals when i'm dosing Iodine. I stopped dosing Iodine months now and i have'nt seen any difference.
