DOes anyone dose with iodide?

Is anyone dosing with iodide at all ? And is it true that skimmers can deplete it?

I do in a rather imprecise way, but mostly to help out the large amount of Chaetomorpha I depend on as my primary filtration. I don't run a skimmer.

Nope no skimmer on either the main reef or the anemone tank--just a REALLY LARGE amount of Chaeto, carbon 24/7 and Phosban as needed. The FO system is skimmed. There are lots of ways to run a reef tank--IF you know the ins and outs of the methodology you choose. Using a skimmer is still the most straightforward, proven method and what I still recommend to most folks.

Hey jerl and long island mike , how big are your tanks and where do you dose your iodide ? Into the tank or the sump?

If you are dosing with iodine, are you testing for it?
I have read a lot of conflicting opinions online about iodine in a reef tank.

I have noticed when my fuge became overgrown with macro that my skimmer overflow became more clear. I was thinking I needed to replace my old Aqua C 120. Maybe I should just take it offline.

wow 5ml a day.iam only dosing it once a week and 2ml in a 100 gallon TWV.i dont test for iodine either so i dont want to overdue it

About 100 gallons of water and duke I dose 5 drops not 5ml

I'm using kent , for some reason it's been working well for me and I'm not into trying to improve something that doesn't need to be improved , I heard of other companies and brands but I'm ok with Kent's line of chemicals for now.

I use 5 drops a day of Lugols. I just started this and I test weekly. SO far so good.

I use 3ML of kent. It isnt as concentrated as the Lugois, allowing me to dose by the ML with my dosing pump

Yeah no doser over here I just use a dropper and drop it into the
Overflow so it mixes up in the sump rather than in the tank

I do 2 drops of Tropic Marin Pro Coral IOD per day in a 120g. It's good for the inverts and helps prevent mortality during molting.
