when Jim gets the chance to update your all going to see one of the best looking new 180's ever.
Solbby, Spykes, and I went over to visit Jim on saturday for a rock moving fest. I've not seen bigger rocks, unless you count the ocean. When this tank gets going it's going to look incredible. And having some comfy new furniture to watch from does not hurt.
I have to say on the way back I was thinking I really like the size of the 180, compared to the 120 I have it offers much more room. of course I'm not sure my floor could handle the weight, but damn is that a nice size tank. Jose if your reading this I decided if you don't have your 180 set up soon I'm coming to get it You'll have to wait for Jim to post the pics, they are on his camera, I think we did a good job of aquascaping with the rocks and giant caps that Jim has.
I think that we set a record for the nicest and quickest tank move. I think that we used the force (Jedi style) or zen (buddhist style) to find the true meaning behind Jim's rock and tank.
It was a cool experience for me. Alone it took me 24-36 hours to aquascape my 120 gallon (and 2 years to find the final rock position). It took us 2 hours (give or take with beer breaks).
Jonathan I agree completely. 180 gallons is SOOO NICE!!!!!!!!!!! A great sized tank.
there is something about having large rocks and a large tank to put them in that makes aquascaping more enjoyable.
Shaun is right it was fairly simple, the rocks knew where they were supposed to go for the most part. we spent about an hour tweaking the final positions and smaller rocks to fill in. there are so many levels and caves, planting the frags will be fun.
Only problem, is that I can't capture the frags on the camera cause they are, well, frags - and they get sooooooo lost in this tank. Kinda takes me a few minutes to find them all when I am looking for where I placed it.
Next stop calcium reactor. Solbby, I will need your help with this one
hmmm calcium reactor awsome stuff, gonna start skimmer for shaun and the tunze first. then calciumr eactor for me and john, if you like to join in on building or having one built for you let me know.
I'd love to do one myself, just not sure where to start. Let me know when you decide to do them. I am game for an al day DIY affair - just have to schedule and plan it
heh planning? im thinking sometimes these two weeks we will just whip one out, we can built CA reactors quicker then skimmers, so we might do the CAs this week or next; your vacation comes in handy hehhe. but you have to buy some acrylic that's the thing. I have the PDFs to the maco project, that or i'll go over the shauns and sketch his reactor into a plan. over all i hope few of us manhattan reefers will have a awsome CA reactor by the end of the day.
