i had 2 of the 104ac acan fixtures, i tries supplementing with vho, t-5...it always looked washed out...only time it looked good was when white lights were out, only blues on.

Thanks, I'm not a fan of the color Acans put out either. That doesn't mean all LEDs are bad though, it just means you don't like Acans. We use Orphek on all of our installs now and the color is amazing. Every customer who has them now has nothing but great things to say about how their tanks look over the halides or T5s they had. We have a few DIF units installed on the 300gal reef at Fauna NYC and you're more than welcome to stop by and check them out. If you didn't know the tank was lit entirely by LEDs you would never guess it.

im not sure aout the 104s but my acan 103s are great.has a nice shimmer effect like halides and my colors are great.the blues arent great but all the other colors pop.everyone who sees my tank say its the nicest LEDs they have seen.

no wonder... lmao.. I heard bad reviews about them.. I have seen many tanks under LEDS that look sweet.. you just have to find the right balance just like T5s... put 5 yellowish light bulbs and only 1 blue plus on a 6 T5 fixture and your tank will look horrible.. now if you have the right combo .. then forget it.. the tank looks sweet.. I know you know it jerl!! you found the sweet spot with the T5s..

I have AI sol blue.. I found the right % for W-B-RB to make my tank look like blue plus T5s light bulbs.. but if I increase the White % on them.. then the tank looks :screama: lol.. but give me some time ..lol.. at the beginning.. I did miss my T5s.. lets see in a year..lol

I think acan LEDs need to be higher than they recommend 12 to 16" above waterline. There mounting legs keep the fixtures to close to the water IMO!
