jarrett i've been running mine since it came out i know you just got yours recently that's why if you look at every super reef that's been sold or being sold almost all of them had the pumps replaced wait till you reach the 1 year mark it's still to early for yours both of my pumps started giving me problems after 6 months

I think skimmer choice is more or less what you PREFER. Some people look for low wattage pumps,quieter vs louder, size is always an issue because if it's an in sump it obviously has to fit. Some people like cones vs standard style etc. People ask me all the time what the best is and I honestly think answering that question is like asking who's the hottest girl. Everyone will have a different answer. Although some might agree with each other you can probably never get a real answer. Lots of people prefer different skimmers for those different variables. If your electric bill isn't an issue than it might not matter just like if your sump is in your basement you might not care if it's on the louder side. In my opinion there is a lot of good skimmers out there vertex, euroreef,etss, aqua c, asm, precision marine, bubble magus, mtc, mrc, skimz etc etc. I mean let's be honest it's pretty much a plastic tube there's not that much to it lol a lot of them are very similar it's the other variables that ultimately help decide what skimmer is best.

dont ask whats the top three skimmers, what size tank do you plan to put a skimmer on and ill give you the top three choise's, octopus is a decent skimmer and after the few months it takes to break in it is a good skimmer, but doesnt compare to a alpha cone, a atb, and the skimz i did test puts the octo line to shame.
