Here's my new clam. Exactly what I wanted (no green, just blue)

clam.jpg

They sent me a regular candycane instead of a neon green one. So I'm going to trade it for something good! Anyone want a head or two before I frag it?

How is everyone's stuff doing?

Well, the clam survived the first night! I was worried about having some random predator. And I didn't see any pyramid snails on it. I've go these tiny little white snails that must be nassarius!

CTX,
The clam is actually black and blue. I just blew that pic up from a smaller version. I'll drag out my roommates good camera today and take some real tank shots! It's about 2" long.

Jose, if the one you have is the one from the frag swap, it came from my tank.

This one's different. It's the normal red and green. I'll save you both a head.

Okay, I just went to frag that caulustrea and I could only get 1 head without fragging the whole thing. Since I'm trying to trade it, I decided against it. If none of the stores will trade, I'll hack that sucker in to as many peices you guys want!

Yes,
Yeah! that one! That's what I orderd and they sent me the red/green normal kind.

The clam is in great shape, it's a ORA cultured Ultima Maxima. It's about 2"

I'm going to drag out my roommates 10d and Macro lens and snap a few hundred pics today. I'll post some more!

BC, thats a small clam, you will have to target feed it.
I hope its the pic, The incurrent siphon looks like its gaping
Are the Byssal gland & fibers intact?
Is it reacting to shade?

If you can't find that candy cane i think i can spare one or two heads.

Here's a better pic of the clam. It's pretty healthy, and I know I'll have to target feed it. I've been loading freeze dried phyto into my tank until I get some live. My fuge puts out a bunch, but not like a big shot of DT's.

I can trade you some pinkish/bluish candycane for the green when you get some extra.

Thanks

Oh, I traded my kenya tree and that candycane for a bubble and a favites. The bubble is waaaay declined and the favites has some bleaching. I'll mostly frag the favites, or at least cut off the nasty parts and see if they grow back. when i get around to cutting it up, I'll post some before/after pics.

I'm going to try and nurse the bubble back to health. I've got an uphill battle, but I've got my fingers crossed. We'll see how nice light and target feeding will help the little guy!)

Heres my copperband butterfly. He hasnt eaten anything yet has been hanging near the top of the tank. Tried Mysis, pellets, flakes still wont eat. My purple tang might be stressing him a little. Seems to be in great shape otherwise very healthy looking.

BC, Don't overfeed the tank. JMO, you should cut the bottom off a 1 liter water bottle and place it over the clam and feed it with a baster, this is better then removing it into a container with phyto. less stress. If you feed the tank chances are it wont get enough food and die. They don't depend much on light until 3+ inches. With the bottle they can spit out the phyto, so you have to keep an eye on it while feeding, and lift the bottle to let some phyto out. JMO.

Do you have any zoos for trade?

Hitsnorth, what was it eating where you bought it? you might have to try live food, or live black mussels with the shell off. Its best to see them at a LFS eating. It will eat all worms in your tank baby feather dusters, christmas tree worms, aiptasia, Some will pick at clams, zoos and soft corals.
Hopefully it will eat frozen food in a few days.
Nice looking fish.
Good Luck!
