I'm looking to get a new place (2 floor building, garden style). Both first floor and 2nd floor both have hardwood floors on everything I seen. I'm wondering if the weight should be a concern.
My tank itself was ~300# empty
144g = ~1100#
rock/sand ~200#
When I built my stand, it was easily 100#
40 breeder sump half full ~300#
~10g frag tank under the stand, next to the sump ~100#
~1 ton on a 3x3.5 feet area (cubish tank)
Should I have cause for concerns if I was buying a 2nd floor unit?

Well, since its a cube like, and I think joists are 1 feet apart, it'll automatically go on 3 joists no matter which way I put it.
So the question is, if I put it on a load bearing wall, there's no cause for concern (gotta see if they know which wall it is)? Or is there anything else I would need to know?

If your buying something and making that investment, you should ask for the blueprints and make sure it's able to support that type of weight or it may cost you your setup and your new investment made liability. Not tryin to be a jerk. Just saying it can't hurt to ask...

i have a 175 with 40 gallon sump and ~350# of rock and sand on hardwood. i would say a total ton if not more. the thing is to place the tank perpendicular to the run of the floor boards. i felt the same way the first day it was up. couldnt sleep. all i pictured was the tank crashing through the floor!
