i want some input on these fish i had few trigger before this is my first pair of blue throught since i got them the females comes out extremely friendly eat like a pig but the male been hidding since i got them this guys i only seen him in the open tank onces swining around is this normal?is he eating ?and how long will it take for him to get comfy and chill like the female does ??

I've gone through 1 male unfortunately and it pretty much did the same thing yours seems to do be doing. It hid out for a few days and which then turned to a couple weeks and then he just died. I never saw him eat anything. When I got my pair the female was about 3" and the male was about 5"...now I still had the female because she was out and eating like a pig and I really wanted the pair again so I got another male, he's much bigger though about 7" and she's about 4 now...it took him about a week to come out and start eating like the female does but at least he didn't end up like the other male. One thing I have to say is that even though they're reef safe don't be fooled about them being fish safe, I personally wouldn't trust them near small fish. I put a trio of firefish in my tank a few days ago and as soon as they hit the water the male and female ganged up on one and then the male just ate him whole!! Saddest thing I had to watch because they weren't meant to be food, luckily my friend was there so we took out the other 2 and I just gave them to him so they wouldn't turn out to be dinner as well. Beautiful fish though, I'll post a pic or video of mine tomorrow if you'd like to see them

I have a female that does nothing but hide. I think it's just luck of the draw. Some shake it off in a few days but others never get used to being in a glass cage. I'm lucky that she at least began eating and has a healthy appetite but she's probably afraid of her own shadow. I'm hoping she grows out of that but who knows.

I'm sure you've done it but try target feeding him on a long, thin skewer. I don't really reccommend using a metal wire as a skewer but sometimes you don't have a choice and in using a wire you can bend it into the shape that best helps you reach him wherever he may be hiding. Just make sure you wipe it dry after each use so you can prolong it's life before you have to stop using it because of rust.

Best of luck

It's not the best method.... once I poked right thru a Zebra Moray eel and I felt pretty bad about it. Thank god it healed up well. But I'd still use a wire again if I didn't have a choice but I'd obviously be a lot more careful.

I just paired my female with a very confident male so I'm hoping that makes a difference.

I have another lone female that hasn't eaten in 5-6 weeks and she still looks great and I don't know what her deal is. The one that is shy took 4 weeks before she started eating but she eats very well now but is still shy. No one was even bothering either one of them but at the end of the day... we ask alot of these fish that were swimming around in paradise 2 weeks before we got our hands on them. So it's more than natural that some aren't going to respond well to being in a small tank. It just sucks for them and us when they don't get used to it.

I have a male blue throat and when I introduced him he never came out for about two days. When he finally did (a little scared still), I tried feeding him (mysis, brine, pellets, even tried spot feeding him pieces of cocktail shrimp) and nothing. Like a week after I guess he was just extremely hungry and when I put that piece of shrimp in front of his mouth, he didn't even chew it he swallowed it lol

Now he freely swims all over the tank. I been feeding him the same things and he's been accepting it nicely and getting fatter..even though my yellow tang is way faster then him when it comes to catching the pellets and the mysis.. That's why I still spot feed him..
And regarding his aggressiveness, mines is a pretty good tank mate, he have never even tried to bite the cleaner shrimp or any other fish in it

Just let him be in there .. Try spot feeding him small pieces of raw shrimp with like a coral feeder or something similar... Whenever he gets used to the tank/tank mates hell come out and will try to eat

Beautiful fish
