Definitely needs to go cross joint. A 6' tank should cover 4.5 floor joists if the house was built correctly using 16" centers and the tank is placed perpendicular to the joists. A queen size water bed weighs about 1500 pounds. The wait is spread out over a greater area but it projects father out onto the joists than the tank would. If placed against a wall there shoul be no problem at all.
