If you go away on vaca, or work, any controller with web access is piece of mind. Couple a controller with a web cam and u can go away with piece of mind. Also u can give a fellow reefer access to watch over it if u don't have cell/web service.

Congrats! It's hands down one of the best (unnecessary) piece of equipment to have for your reef tank. You'll love it and if you need help doing anything I strongly recommend using this unofficial guide, it's easier to understand and has a lot more than the one from Neptune http://reeftech.webs.com/Apex New User Guide.pdf
I picked up a netgear WNCE2001. Was $60 at wallyworld. Seems to be the one recommended on other forums.
