Large midas blenny goes airborn!!

I was sitting on my couch last night watching deadliest catch when I here a serious slap around my tank and when I saw my cat come into the area I just knew I had a jumper!!!! My loved Midas blenny took a super leap of faith !!! I tried to save him ..... But after washing him off in my sump and puting him back in my tank , he breathed heavily for two hrs and then just died at my clams foot.

The sad part was watching my clowns
(Darwin and theory ) nudge him to get him going .......... But it was over !

I'm sad today.

I just got one Saturday and it already jumped last night. Luckily I heard it and saved him, but im pretty sure he will be dead on my floor in under a week.

Mine 3 year old midas jumped last week but that was my fault cuz I did changes in the aquascape and the rock that had a round hole in it was his house he loved it and I got rid of it he jumped next day
Yesteday I got a 5/8 drill bit and made a nice round hole new house for a new one with nice view hope the new one likes it . For some strange reason if a midas blenny don't have rock with a round hole in it in the tank he won't be happy u can take that to the bank I update on the new one with some pics but I bet $ that when I get home he will be chilling in his new park ave crib .

Wow mine also had a big hole he dug into. But it was so unexpected it left me so upset last. Night , I have a mystery wrasse I hope he doesn't pull the same stunt!!

My tank is a corner bowfront , it's not easy to make a cover with an overflow box and return , but on my next tank , I'm totally covering it!!

AHH I hear ya. You could probably have a shop near you cut 2 pieces of thin aluminum off of a template that you make out of cardboard of the footprint of the tank and zap holes every 2 inches or so. Then you can sandwich gutterguard or pond netting between the 2 pieces and cut it around the outer edge so theres none hanging out anywhere and put that over the tank.

Just an idea.

It's a great idea , but I'm doing a tank swap soon an I can then make a nice cover on my 57 rimless
