I didn't realize there was another med student on this board. How is it treating you so far? Good luck with the pico

What about the mini bow 5 or 7? Little more room and a little more water.

while this may seem like backwards logic, the larger a tank the easier it is to care for in my opinion. More room for error and alot more room for rock to process waste, etc...

I dont want to seem like a wet blanket here, and since im the elder statesman here @ M.R (but i look better than all u younger doods, lol)
CC, u been out of the hobby for a total of 3 seconds, after all the adversity u went thru this past few months, summer is aproaching, why the hell would u want to start a high maintainance nano tank now....get things straight first. Your gonna want to go out and party and have fun and things may crap out on something that small, PATIENCE is the key word in this hobby, always has been always will be. If u enjoy this hobby, and since most of us will still be here AFTER this summer, wait, collect lights, heater, skimmer, etc. Collect couple things here and there and plan it dont just jump right in and set urself up for another disapointment...just my paternal 2 cents
mike

CC, check for rocks before u jump in head first!

My fault, I was playiing devil's advocate.

Well CC, you're going to have to let this thing cycle. So you won't be up and running until at least until the end of June to be safe since this is a nano. I don't want to see you posting any purchases until July buddy. Also, I don't know what kind of black sand that is but the one's I've seen on sale didn't mention anything about being good buffering agents. Please CC, like Slama said, take it slow. You're going to have a box of water sitting there for a while, so go out and party so you don't stare at it and get the urge to purchase. I've seen you go through like 3 or 4 different tanks ideas bro. Chillax.
