I bought a PC bulb about a month ago and a few days after I bought it I noticed it was cracked. I was sent a replacement bulb and tonight I noticed that the plastic where the plug is, is cracked =(. I installed the bulb anyway and it does work but I was told that it could be a fire hazard? When I removed the glass cover on my fixture I had absolutely no salt creep anywhere.

Unfortunately I broke my old PC's because my garbage men asked me to break the bulbs and bag them instead of leaving them sticking out of the recycle can so I cannot reinstall my old PC's temporarily.

Can I use electric tape around the cracked plastic piece or should I ask for another exchange which I am not sure I will get at this point because it is the second replacement bulb.

I know it isn't the supplier sending me broken bulbs, it is my UPS delivery guy who throws my boxes in front of my garage instead of ringing the bell.

Thanks in advance.

jbjints, I also live in new Hyde Park and I didn't think we could put bulbs in recycle.
Home Depot has a bulb recycle container.

About a year ago someone came from the town and told me that in the future I had to bag the bulbs and break them inside the bag then put them in the recycle can. I am wondering if I should remove the bag from the recycling can and dump the bulbs in my boss' dumpster at work? I think i am going to do that.

After work I am going to the LFS to buy two PC bulbs. I turned the PC's off so they do not go on later. I will certainly be checking bulbs as soon as I buy them from now on even if I am not going to be installing them.

You can do that as long as you don't like your boss. It is illegal but I doubt anyone would say anything. If you break one of those bulbs you are supposed to evacuate the town and come back 6 months later with a hasmat suit on.
