Reef ready is the way to go IMO. I have ran overflow boxes in the past and they do work but are riskier since all it takes is something to get stuck in the U tube or if you dont push enough flow through it bubbles will accumulate and eventually siphon will break. Some boxes rely on pumps to keep the siphon going which is just another point of failure. Reef ready is more of a set it and forget it.

No debate, if you're asking before setting it up and have the where with all to do either one, RR is the only way to go.

The ONLY reason to go with an overflow, IMO, is because you own the tank already, it is filled and running and you can't empty it and drill it.

Save yourself the headache and do it right from the start, RR.

+1 with one stipulation

Glass holes overflow kits are super and I use one since my tank is viewable both sides and it take up less space and looks nicer then a taller overflow through the floor or the tank.

so ya RR the way to go, glassholes kits if you are in a pinch. hang on overflow only if you rent and your name is not on the lease. lol
