Where on the second floor are you putting it?? Against a corner of the wall ?? It makes a difference ! Also what are your floors made of and can you get the blueprints from department of buildings? These things can make the world of a difference!! If you know a contracter maybe he can scope it out for you.

best bet is ask the landlord. is this a 2 family house? hope landlord aint the one paying water bill cus he will not like the idea of u having a tank. i live in a 2 family house and my landlord has no clue i have a 30g tank if he was to find out he would probably charge me more rent lol

The beams run opposite off the long way the house is built ....if your building is like 20'x40' then your beams run the 20' way.....if you live in a square building or are just still unsure and you have an older real hardwood floor look at the nails and you can tell which way the beams run.....exterior walls of the house are strongest unless an interior wall is framed exactly the same downstairs and to the basement as well

i am a carpenter for 14 years you can put your tank anywhere in your apt. i think your floor its going to sink little but no worries more or less you can put around 100lbs on one square foot if the floor is going to collapse i will fix it :)

I have a 90gallon on the third floor. Its been up 4 years. You can lay a sheet of plywood down first and this will distribute the load across the beams. (presuming it is beams and not concrete). As ReefnQueens says
