Any reviews on bio-spira (instant ocean)

A friend of mine says he was to put this stuff in his newly cycling tank and add a fish. He says hes read great things and people have used this to "instant cycle" his tank. I reccommend ed for him to fully cycle his tank the old fashion way but hes still a little iffy. Any experiences with this stuff?

These products do work but for Fish only or Fowlr type tanks. You shouldn't use them for reef tanks as they convert the ammonia and nitrites into nitrates, which for fish isn't bad but for corals it's a problem.

@ marrone- thanks in advance will his tank ever cycle properly where he can keep a mixed reef if he already put the stuff in?

Eventually the bacteria in the tank will build up enough where the tank will be cycled and able to handle the load in it. These products basically let you start to put in fish and things without worrying about the ammonia and nitrites, which are deathly for fish and corals, especially in Ph 8 and over.
