I actually think the biggest problem you'll run into with the shark is the appetite it has. With all that feeding you're going to need very powerful viltration to keep the tank clean enough for coral. Another problem you might run into is having the shark knocking corals off when he decides to move around.

If you didnt get the shark already and you're thinking about going reef, I'd say leave the shark out of the plan. The oceans a whole lot bigger and things still dont live peacefully. Save yourself the headache and choose one or the other.

If you want coral, go coral and strive to make their environment the best you can.

From what I remember reading with sharks their underbelly is very soft and prone to infection if it scrapes itself on Live Rock. Keep that in mind. Most people reccomend sand with sharks and very little Live Rock and since alot of coral comes on rock you may have a problem.

First of all, they grow big, very fast. Mine started about 7", 2 years ago. It's now a 2' long monster. And it knocks everything in the tank around when feeding. Plus, you'll have a bear of a time keeping water clean enough for corals. Also, if you don't feed enough(trying to keep water clean), it will eat anything that will fit into its increasingly large mouth. Sorry. Bad combination.
