I was making RO water this weekend and forgot to shut the water off. I wasn't happy when I came home 8 hours later. :(

Is there any method to avoid this since I've experienced the same thing several times already?!:banghead::banghead::banghead:

I've seen those in stores but the ones I've seen don't come with the fuzzy cat attachment like John's second picture. I guess that's a special order.

Seriously though I use the RO/DI for the tank but I make RO to drink in the house (that's how I justified the purchase to my wife. "WHAT!? This isn't for the fish.....it's for us, I just HAPPEN to be able to use it for the fish ALSO!") When I make RO water for the house I fill 2 Quart pitchers which fill up real fast. That's why I always flood my kitchen. I should just get bigger containers but if I had bigger containers I'd probably use them to culture live phyto. :)

They also make water alarms too. We had them when I worked for the alarm company.

Dunno if they would work here but they might.

yeah get a bigger bucket. :wink1:. all jokes aside. it happened to me once, almost three times. i guess a float switch is the best option.

i dont get how the float swich works, I dont' turn on and off my RO/DI unit- its attached to my faucet and I can't do anything but turn off the water to stop it from coming out...

do large RO/DI systems work differently?

It's called a solenoid. It's like a regular float switch, except instead of turning a pump on or off, it shuts a valve. I have one, just need to find the time to install it.
