I've been slowly building a 180

Tank has dul returns and dual drains. 3 of 4 bulkheads are good to go, one pia refuses to make seal for me. I replaced the bulkhead thinking other one was older or just defected or something.... I swapped out just now got it set or so I thought. I put water I overflow ( better idea than last time) and it's still pissing water out of side of bulkhead. I made sure not too over tighten this. Any ideas? Gasket is on wet side as per conversation at reef encounter last night

And patience: been the model of it for hobby. Took 15 years off hobby, came back to a 90g that got wiped out by Oct storms last year as did my basement. That build took approx 17 or 18 months to fill up. So vie got the patient part working for me......but I've now maxxed out

take a deep breath and walk away.

when you come back. pull the bulkhead, use a brand new sharp razor to clean the glass top where the bulkhead will seat. Then clean with alcohol and scotch brite and let dry over nite.

clean up the bulkhead and gasket.

Always install the gasket on the flange side of the bulkhead, never on the nut side, regardless if its inside or outside the tank. Installing the gasket next to the nut will lead to leaks as water travels along the threads around the gasket. Hand tighten only with maybe 1/4 to 1/2 turn additional, no more.

i like to use aquarium silicon on the treads. cause im lazy. you should use something like http://www.laco.com/productDetail.aspx?ProductID=121

anways good luck take it slow

Joe, if you need a hand I'll help u out. IMO, just pick up either a caulk tube of aquarium silicone OR a "toothpaste squeeze tube" from a local hardware/LFS of aquarium silicone. If we do it early I can help you out. I'll be up for another hour so feel free to call me tonight OR at 8am which is early for me but it's cool. at that early of a time, we'll only be able to get the sqeeze tubes at a hardware as LFS's will be closed.

If I put a gasket on the flange side AND nut side and used Teflon tape should I be worrying as well?

OP, good luck I know how much of a PITA it can be.

I just spoke to sonny and thought id try again
Im hoping it worked this time. I feel like the return setbup wasnt long enoufh and may have been pulling it off the glass on one side. Which could be why it wasnt sealing properly or at least in my mind. I cut the top portion off and will attach if it seals. I filled overflow portion and will check in am
