Found Russ on the IceCap site listed as a dealer. Started buying all my equipment and he told me to join. I think I lolligagged for 4 months or so before actually joining.
Anthony (Qckwizard?) Told me to join when I was in his pet store on Nassau street (I had just set up my 1st Tank weeks before). I thought to myself "I'm never joining an online community, that's for nerds"....and here I am, 4351 posts later.

Found this place on google when i first started. Was looking for reef stores in the new york area and the site popped up.

Wow, it was so long ago. I was searching for an address of a store in NYC and MR came up. At that time there where only a hand full of members, people like Josh, Pseudo(Kasi), Vic8361(Vic),House of Ha(Jim), The Great Rupert, and DaveEspi, who was one crazy guy from Albany. Went on a recruiting trips to RC to get members, as the posts per day were few and far in between. Most of the GB pickups where at my place, and almost everyone joined in, which was about 10-15 members.

Anthony, BTW, still manages the Petland Discount store on Nassau street downtown, NYC - he was managing the 14th street store for awhile, then cam back down. He changed his screen to Toe'Knee and I still talk to him regularly. I bought my first reef tank from him and did it with a friend (later he joined - Mr. Blik).
Funny how it all comes back around.

I worked in that store on Nassau st.back in 1977 and started my journey into this money pit.
I remember going to Jonathan's place for the GB that Jim had setup early on. Not sure but I think cali_reef told me about the site.

I found out about MR thru a guy name Danny Lew that once worked at lfs in Brooklyn on 65th street this is a great site

You know, I don't remember! All I know is that when I first signed up the site was pretty new. (2001?) It would be neat if we could access the old messages from the original software. My oldest message here is from 2006. I'm curious to go back and see what I was writing about...

I actually always wanted to try sw. I had few fw and some turtle tanks. I was on another board trying to find live rock and I was pointed over here.
Since then my tank has crashed twice

Really? My memory must be failing me. I remember there being an upgrade at one point, must be the long nights and lack of sleep!
I just searched out my posts and they only go back to 2006. I have been a member since December of 2002 and was active from the beginning.
