pretty much what i said before i deleted the post i posted was not to do it... you will like it in the beginning and hate it in a few months.

the reason behind it is that it will build up with as stated above detritus and fish poop making it look fugly. im not sure if they even sell black live sand. i know they have black sand which is dry. but trust me do not choose the black sand route unless you wanna vacuum the crap up every few days... in the end its ur tank and you will do as you please just informing you on what ive seen ;)

I just spent this past week siphoning most of my Tahitian moon sand out. Detritus and bits of rocks is quite noticeable. Not sure which black sand you're thinking about, but the Tahitian Moon is rather coarse and the detritus was just trapped there, and became a phosphate factory. If I had to do it over again, bare bottom or just a light dusting of a fine sand.

Nature's Ocean "Black Aragonite" is actual aragonite based live sand that's either a light grey to dark grey depending on your lighting. I love the stuff but it does have a high iron content so algae magnets will collect granules if you aren't careful. It also has a really nice range of grain sizes.

I used black sand & its nice looking but everyone is correct. You see everything, all these little rocks come to the surface. Everything is visable. I will have about 150lbs of it if anyone wants it in about a week when i make the switch to my new 150. I will be using pink sand.
