I just got stuff in my tank... I got a VERY nice and VERY big Maxima clam from Dr. Mac, several frags from Pablo (superman monti frag, neon green dendro, neon green toadstool and some other "blue" coral), kenya tree and some small frags of Montipora.

I was impressed with how successful this event was! To think that when I signed up there were a few dozen active members and at this event there were several HUNDRED people that not only showed up, but PAID to get in AND got more than their monies worth!!!

Josh is now on my short list of "heros". ;)

ill upload a few shots tomorrow, I couldnt believe the prices they were giving and how great everyone was.

just a HEADS UP: I purchased a 5" clam from dr.mac at Pacific east aquaculture (the clam only tank for 70$ a piece) and it has some aptasia on it.

James- I just took a close look at my clam and found an aptasia as well. I will deal with it as quickly as possible because I got rid of ALL of my aptasia by keeping my tank dark for a LONG time. But I can't complain, where else can you get a clam that is as big and beautiful for so little? I am VERY happy with Dr. Mac, an awesome deal and a healthy clam. One little (common) hitchhiker won't detract from the five stars I have to give them.

The clams do sometimes come into us with Aiptasia from our collectir, we do clean each one but sometimes miss a few. I did tell most folks that they need to check and brush if needed, sorry if we did not tell everyone but we had 70 clams and sold them all and we were extremely busy so it did get chaotic at the swap. You can put the clam in a small container with tank water and use a toothbrush to clean anything off the shell including and Aiptasia and that should be an easy, simple, and quick fix.

I (hopefully) got to two aptasia on the clam I bought. Unfortunately, they were both in very tight spaces of flukes and there was no way I was going to get a brushes bristles in there, the tip of the Majano wand would not fit!

Either way, I wouldn't dream of complaining. The clams were a great deal all around. If I ever get my wholesale business going again Dr. Mac is going to be one of the first people I call! (I doubt I will- but I still get nostalgic, LOL)

Dr Mac, since you're the clam expert...

I know clams do come in with aptasia, I have gotten clams from other direct sellers including you, and I guess that's just what happens out in the wild. But here's my question, and other people are welcome to chime in...when clams have pinched mantle, the treatment is a 30 min dip in properly balanced temp and pH RODI water, now can that same technique be used to kill off any other parasite on the clam such as aptasia or pyramidial snails?
