Clam kills wrasse!!! What the heck!!!!!

Just noticed a lot of commotion in my tank and went to inspect and noticed my clam had my malanarus wrasse by the head , end result I had to pry a spoon into my clam and kill it to try and save my wrasse !! In the end I lost both!!! Sometimes I hate this hobby!! I'm now selling my other two clams!!!! No more clams for me!!!

I think the wrasse was trying to pick up food or something from inside the clam and doing so triggered the clam's natural reaction to close up, which caught the fish by the head. IMO the fish asked for it lol, but if he lives then it will be a lesson well learned.

yeah my wrasses are always in tight areas looking for morsels , now im one short and im selling my remaining clams , i cant have a second rendition of this!!

Wow! In nearly 20 years of keeping fish and clams I have never seen that happen. I don't think you need to get rid of your other clams as it is super, duper extremely unlikely this will happen again.

Sadly this can happen... I had seen a picture of a large blue tang with its head stuck in a clam mouth. The guy got lucky and saved both, albeit minus a few broken scuttles.

No fish in that tank will go near any of the other clams , that's for sure
