I need someone to help identify this for me before I lose it, just in case it is something harmful!!

+1 take it out and just keep it in a cup until you can identify the type. There are some that eat algae or aipstasia, but there are others that eat coral.

Each type has a very specific diet and once that food source is gone it will die. You just don't want it to be your corals that disappear!

UPDATE!! after much research, and after noticing some zoas going missing, i searched for zoa eating nudibranches, and guess what i found? a bunch o pictures of exactly what i have! i pulled it out and threw it away! thanks for the help everyone!

check your zoa for eggs, usually on the stem or near the opening

Did your research also tell you that if you found this guy, you more than likely have more than one?

Have you dipped your zoas in Lugol's to locate other adult Nudi's?

Also, dipping won't kill any eggs they have laid. You will find those on the sides of your zoas in a circular pattern. Best to sacrafice one head of a zoa than to try and scrape them off.

that's a nudibranch of some sort your best off catching him and placing him in a separate container until you can identify if its a harmful one (probably is)

yes, they are hermaphrodites so only one is needed

more than likely... there will be more. then you will need to dip your zoas on a daily regement to kill them. not fun at all.
took me more than 2 months of dipping to kill them from my tank system.

Well I finally caught the little bastard eating my bam-bams if you couldn't tell from the color it's fluorescing ATM... Flushed it right down the toilet bowl, and I'm now closely monitoring the closed polyps for egg sacs

They will look just like the zoas they are eating.

brush the bottom of the zoa frags with a toothbrush in dip solution. it might not kill them off completely however it could help!

That's what amazes me!! If I had enough zoas, after seeing it orange like this, I would qt it with some bright green ones and see how long it takes to change colors

Honestly just had the same problem. Picked it off my glass on Saturday. Didn't know about all the eggs and stuff. Is there any product you can recommend to dip my zoas in? Will they eat anything else? (LPS, Mushrooms?)

From what I read there are different ones that eat different corals

dip in zoas in freshwater and use a turkey baster to blow air at zoas with it eggs will be blown out like that from what i read on this site
