New from Park Slope-recommend designer fabricator for very large saltwater aquarium?

Hi all:

I just joined this community.

I have had freshwater tanks for some years but would now like to switch to a custom built and designed saltwater tank of the following approximate measurements: 9' x 6' x 2'.

This aquarium will be in the finished basement of a house in Park Slope Brooklyn.

I would really appreciate if members can recommend some people, companies for me to get in touch with in order to incorporate the design into a renovation of a limestone.

That's a huge system! I'm sure you'll get several responses on here about a build/installation. I can't help you with that but if you need someone to drink your top shelf scotches and stare at your reef just LMK Welcome to Manhattan Reefs!

Yep I am a Park Sloper too. Thats a big tank. Think about the system before the build. From Dehumidifiaction (mold issuees can come up fast with a system that size in a basement), Top off replenishment, Logistics for maintenance and electrical outlet placement and circuit breakers. You might need a service upgrade.

As for tank builders you have a few. But do you need the tank installed in place or built and shipped? Do you have access way to the basement for a big tank to be built and brought in. DO you have friends that like you enough to break thier backs for you for free (alcohol and food bribbes AFTER the tank move)

Equipment adequate for a tank that size and budget. Time frame?

After you answer those questions the community can help you.

tank fabricator / designer - large

Hi:

I just bought a limestone in Park Slope and will be spending the next 12 months having it renovated including excavating and finishing a basement the complete lot size.

As part of the basement renovation I would like to incorporate this large aquarium as a sound proof divider between an entertainment area and an exercise area.

I have a designer and an architect plus a structural engineer but no saltwater aquarium specialist fabricators / designers. That is the expert that I am looking to identify if anyone can make recommendations.

A friend recommended Bear Glass and they appear to be glass fabricators but not the designers for systems, power etc.

Any assistance would be much appreciated,

Both Manhattan Aquariums (a vendor on this forum) and City Aquarium in Brooklyn do custom installations. I don't know if you are looking for "full service", but both of these companies have done some really big, upscale installations in NYC.
