I went with the atotopoff.com first until a float stuck on me and dumped 6 gal of RODI into my tank then I got the Tunze Osmolator Universal 3155.
So far so good, had it about year now.
Double float switches is a MUST with mechanical float switches. Just the nature of the beast, saltwater will cause salt creep which can possibly get the switch stuck. Unless you go optical, which the Tunze 3155 is.
just make sure if you go with the tunze you clean the optical sensor once in a while. i havent cleaned mine in a few months and still running smooth. I think its time to clean mine ... its an awesome top off. the only thing that annoys me with the tunze ato is if i ever shut it off and power back on, it starts topping off. Not that much of a big deal but i like everything to be perfect.
I like the tunze one because of the sensor,Is there a way to disable the alarm or silence it not disable the secondary float just the alarm sound. If not does the alarm go off or does it ring till its manually stopped?
there is no way to disable the alarm unless you fix the problem which usually is the water is to high, and lower it back to the water level you have set it at.
the only thing i can think of if you really dont want to hear the alarm is to open the box with the lights and cut the power source to the alarm. I dont know why you would want to do that but that is all i can think of.
I wouldnt want the alarm going off all day wile I was at work my girls mom and grandmother lives in the apt below us. but im sure I can muffle it somehow. I check the tank before I leave and when I come home but its still new so the early in the morning check might fizzle out in time. Can you link the alarm to a controller and get a text some how?Ill prob get this anyhow but thanks for answering all my questions as I have many this is all new to me so I want to get the right equipment the first time.
the tunze would be a excellent first choice. the alarm is not that loud where it would bother them. I dont think there is anyway for you to get a email from any controller with the tunze ato.
It's not an optical sensor like the tunze, it uses a pressure sensor instead. But the controller integration can't be beat and the mount can also hold your probes...
