i wouldn't. I'm a fisherman, and when bait defrosts doesn't smell that good. that stuff probably lays around un refrigerated. i go to the fish market buy 1/4 of a lb of what ever you want and make my own. i don't think its worth the risk. but i do refreeze my bait for next time out, so it doesn't go to waste

I make my own natural chemical free marine blends. I have been doing this for two years now. It is all I feed my tanks. I use wild caught, chemical free seafoods and sea veggies.

I wont buy seafoods from supermarkets. Most of that stuff is old and the shrimp and a lot of scallops are dipped in sodium triphosphate (STPP), a preservative that isn't harmful for human consumption, but I'm sure it increases phosphates and nitrates in our systems. It adds weight to the seafood which increases the prices at check out. Most seafoods dipped in STPP don't cook well and lack natural flavor, especially in scallops.

There is a lot involved in making your own food from "wild caught" and farmed seafoods. There is a cleaning process and a frozen storage time that one must know to be sure there are no parasites alive that can be passed on to your inhabitants. You should not just grind and feed. Farmed seafoods may even be worse because many treat with antibiotics. Since most farmed is for human consumption, again, not an issue for us but not good for our livestock.

Jan, where from NY are you originally from?

My fish get live clams, live worms and live new born brine shrimp daily and not much else. Some of them are 19 and still spawning. But I would feed your bait bloodworms as I have many times when I used to go fishing.

Cityline Brooklyn. I lived and grew up there. Cityline is next to Ozone Park. My old stomping grounds as a teen was Ozone Park, Tutor village and Howard Beach. I'd go to Long Beach, Jones beach and the Rockaways during the Summers to go to the beach. It's all very different now. As an adult I lived in Forest Hills for many years. Hd to delete some stuff. TMI on a public forum. Sorry.

I know Liberty Avenue very well. From Euclid Ave to Forbel St that was the place to shop. Liberty Ave was 2 blocks from my home. In the late 70's and early 80's I used to buy all my disco clubbing clothes at Sexy Lady boutique there. LOL!!! Those were the days!

Where near Liberty Ave, Steve? Closer to Atlantic Ave or the Conduit? I lived closer to the Conduit.

City line I grew up near liberty

So you went to Franklin K Lane too? I think I know that petstore. That's a loooong time ago. I think I got a pet snake from there. Also vaugley remember the record store. My dad used to keep fresh water fish. He may have purchased them there. I was more interested in playing catch. I was a tom boy up until I turned 14. Then it was dancing at the Arena in Middle Village, The lemon tree in Forst Hills, Uncle Sams on LI, the Palladium in Manhattan, etc.. Wow, blast from the past. So much fun. Such simpler times. I miss New York soooo much!!!

I lived on lincoln off atlantic. My mom used to take me to the petstore on liberty by the record store.I had fresh water fish.

Small world. I've heard the clubs suck now. Loved the Palladium because every weekend was a different theme. There was a 3 floor club made from an old warehouse in the meat district. Don't recall the name. The Limelight and Studio 54!!! Forgot those also forgot Pastels in Bklyn. Another very fun place. I was 18 the first time I ever got really really blacked out drunk. Ugh. I was so sick. My friends were so pissed at me. LOL!!! We still talk about that night to this day. I'm still friends with the girls I grew up with. I've known them since I was 14. They live in LI now. Such great times, great memories.

Fulton Street! Another great place to go shopping, back in the day. Lunch at Woolworths with my sis and mom was a favorite.

Jr's cheescake when I got older was another fav.

Paul, where on Fulton Street? What kind of restaurant? Would love to stop by when I'm in town.

I have a very dear friend that has lived on Senator Street in Bensonhurst for over 20 years. Another great place, though I've heard it has also changed a lot.

I just got home from Brooklyn, my Son n law owns a restaurant there on Fulton street. I was born in Bensonhurst.

No, Fulton Street still looks exactly like that picture. I think thats my family.
I was born on Bay 13th street in Bensonhurst not far from the Coney Island Aquarium

My Son N Law's restaurant is on Fulton Street and is called 3 Letters. There are 3 owners and they all have 3 letters in their name. It is French Peasent food and it seems french Peasents ate fairly well. I ate their last night and it is very different from any restaurant that I know of because it is much different from French restaurants which I do not like. I don't remember the address but you can google it.

I found it. There are only 10 tables, it's tiny.

Palladium and Studio 54 are no longer existing; Limelight change names so many times, I can hardly follow anymore. As for the warehouse one, is it Roxy you are talking about? May be we have met. LOL.

Oh Jr's chesecake is still good but starting to get out fashioned by lighter taste cheese cakes.

I stopped at Virgina last Monday. Will be passing by it again next week on route I95
