There are cheaply made generics and then there are well made generics.
Most of the things we buy, food, clothing, household items and so on are manufactured very much the same way.
Tropicana OJ sells the store brand OJ to supermarket chains, same plant, same packaging lines, same trucks for delivery except that the store brand is cheaper.
Dont hate on the China Products.

I will hate on chinese products all day. They are made cheap and with slave labor. I try very hard to stay away from chinese products if i can. If you go to China i dare you to find one product on there shelves that were mad by the USA.

That pump looks just like a tunze, if it would be the same pump it is really nice pump and is very quiet, that control is not from tunze.
I did see a mp40 on the shelf there (not sure where they are made) as well as many other popular products here.

I'm just sayin that sometimes it pays to spend a bit more ( even though mp 10-60 are a rip off) and if your fish get ick it's cause your a inpatient snook who can't acclimate or choose fish carefully!!! Over all it's not the hobby to skimp on

Just look in any auto shop, there you will find your answer LOL- I myself would not have picked Ford as a go to to dispell the whole China makes cheap stuff point
Did you forget that most, if not all major American consumer products mfg is producing it in China? Hence the reason why you won't find made in America even on American branded products...like Apple.

Whenever i can, i will check to see where it is made and manufactured and make a decision on what to buy. Not just on price. That is why i dont shop at walmart or anywhere else that are not union strong. Just trying to do my part 
If i feel its my only option i will buy Japanese products especially if there product is assembled in the US and put our men and woman to work. Chinese products i stay away from.

I try to as well. I don't buy many technologically savvy things but what items I buy in general I look for the American flag made in USA label on it if at all possible.
Take my thread in the nudibar for instance. $3,200 in motor parts ALL made in the good ol' US of A.

I didn't realize the reefing community was so cash rich. Especially the way people kick and scratch on this site to get a good deal.
If we are not concerned with how much money we spend on our hobby, why is it that when someone puts up a sale thread that is pennies on the dollar when compared with retail. The poster gets low balled to death?
