i would like to see maybe a chart of some sort showing what light ( MH,T5,PC etc. that are suitable for corals so people would not waste money on buying these pieces to watch them die

I don't know; I feel like currently things are working fine. Adding more forums just creates confusion as to what should go where because there tends to be a good deal of subject overlaps. Before you know it we're all flipping around from forum to forum to forum to find something that interests us.

For example: if you're looking to find out if Fish X if safe with corals - do you post in Fish or Corals?

I think too many forums dilutes the content. :bablefish

Ummmmm fish.
Why would it go under corals?

Better to be posted in a "Fish Forum" than to be posted in the "General Forum."
If you're looking up a certain fish, you don't have to search through hundreds of other subjects.

Because it involves corals too. It might be extremely obvious to you, but I think one is getting into a gray area. When you start creating too many specific forums you're pigeon-holing the subject and finding something can become tricky. Especially when you're doing a search because you might be searching in the wrong forum. Look at saltwaterfish.com, whose layout is very much like this site's. There's a beginner's forum, reef forum, fish forum, anemone/clown forum, agressive fish forum, etc. Way too many options and for no real reason I can personally see, and there are clown/fish question being posted in the beginner's forum all the time - because a lot of beginners get clowns. They are also posted in the reef forum. Now looking up clowns becomes more, not less, complicated.

I think the proof is when threads are being moved around by mods; and most of the time I can understand why the original poster chose a specific forum. But the mods decided that wasn't the case. And we don't have that many forums at this point!

hmmmmmmm

Because it involves corals too.
If you are inquiring about a certain fish that would be safe with corals.....you are asking about a fish...
That doesn't seem too illogical to me.
Now if you ask, "which corals are more tasty to fish"....then the question would pertain to "corals.";)
If your question is regarding a fish disease...obviously we would not be posting in a "Coral" forum.
Where do we search this topic now????
The "General Forum", which also includes, heat issues, dosing, coral & pest ID's, etc.

You can't compare SWF.com to MR.com. Total different lay-out.
You talking apples & oranges..dude.

There's no gray area.
Look at my line up & it's not hard to differentiate between certain topics.
You mention other forums:

beginner's forum, reef forum, fish forum, anemone/clown forum, agressive fish forum, etc

Beginner forum - I never said that
Reef forum - Is very broad & will depend on what exactly the topic is.
fish forum, anemone/clown forum, aggressive fish forum - obviously these will fall under "fish".

I think the proof is when threads are being moved around by mods; and most of the time I can understand why the original poster chose a specific forum. But the mods decided that wasn't the case. And we don't have that many forums at this point!

Exactly...
We don't have many forums now & people continue to post in the wrong forum. It's going to happen regardless.
My suggestion was to keep topics a bit organized & a possibly a bit easier to search a particular topic.
I did not add that many extra forums, that we don't already have.

I like the beginners and advanced forum. I like the beginners because sometimes I have a question that sounds kinda stupid to me and I don't want to post it in a general forum. So I post it in the beginners because I feel its a place where beginning questions are welcomed. I also like the advanced forum because sometimes there are topics that get a little more complicated and shouldn't go into the regular forum.

I think someone mentioned this before but I would like an equipment forum (lights, skimmers, pumps, etc.).
