I am new to MR and to SW tanks and I have several questions. On Monday my new 175 gallon tank is being delivered and I am eager to get started. I have done alot of reading over the past few weeks, but I am still confused when it comes to fish compatability.

I plan on keeping a FOWLR tank and I am interested in addign some inverts, shrimp, crabs, snails etc. The more I read the more it seems that there are a limited amount of fish that are invert. compatible. Most descriptions state that the fish "may be aggressive". Any sure bets when it comes to compatible fish for inverts? How long before I can introduce a cleaner crew?

Sorry this is so long. Thanks for your insight.

welcome.

i am no expert but i would like to help as much possible. first off, what fish were you planning to go w/?

it seems that if most of the fish are not invert safe then you will have to do w/o inverts.

i believe angels and tangs are invert safe. i could be wrong? maybe someone else can chime in here.

Level of agressiveness doesn't necessarily mean that the fish is not safe with inverts. That refers more to how they treat other fish.

If you get a larger Wrasse, like a Lunaire, you might be able to keep a large hermit, but those can be agressive towards fish if they get their claws on them!
