Another reason for this thread is hopefully people can recommend cheaper alternatives to popular expensive gadgets for those who seek this info

Right but how much money and future customers did ecotech lose simply because of a little word of mouth about the wp25/40. I think your right they won't lower prices but thanks to some smart Chinese folks a bunch of us reefers can save a ton of $$ now. If it wasn't for forums I doubt people would know about these cheaper alternatives.
Actually, after reading this thread I researched the WP line and am proudly picking up an MP10wes tomorrow. The features and reviews don't compare and I'll be buying a perfectly priced gadget for my tank.
This thread solidified my opinion that you get what you pay for.

I just added another mp10Wes to my cube. I couldn't be happier.
2 mp10s on the back wall and It looks like I don't even have power heads In the tank.
Over 500 dollars in power heads and I'm glad I spent the money.
I wouldn't put the wp's in my tank if they paid me 500 to use them.
Big and clunky is not what I'm looking for. I could get that in the mirror.
9 out of 10 will chose a wp25 if they do research unless your a baller then you must have the best. Btw your mp10 is weaker than wp25 so ur paying extra $300 for less flow to save 1/2" of space in tank. Your the 1/10 exception IMO. There's nothing about any pump that should cost $300 unless its a commercial size heavy duty.
I could understand the reason of using the MP10, they are very sexy to me but not the 40s. I have both, but the 40 fail on me and some what fail in my friends place.I just added another mp10Wes to my cube. I couldn't be happier.

After years using koralias I have a Vortech MP40WES with the battery backup.
And I will be getting a $300 Apex controller this weekend.
I spent more than that on a skimmer and lighting the tank was the most I spent.
I have zero regrets because I know I am also buying the kind of support that stands behind these products. They are high quality and dependable unlike a lot of new products that are completely unproven.
I get it, you are cheap and look to squeeze the most out of everything. But what you fail to understand is the amount to money spent living inside the tank is far more than the equipment running it and when you reach that level in this hobby you realize the investment is worth it.
This is like drinking fine wine from a crystal glass while you are reaching for a Dixie cup.
So when your jaebo garbage crashes your tank, which it might, good luck with Alibaba.com or whatever truck that pump fell off standing behind their product.
