Refugium mud

I'm adding a hang on refugium to my 34 solana for macro algae and I'm looking for opinions or recommendations for what kind of mud to use.

Every thread ive seen on this topic says its snake oil and not worth it. Good luck with whatever info you find.

All depends on how you go about using it...I used miracle mud in the past and had great results

I used Walt Smith's Fiji Mud for a base in a seagrass tank. Call it what you will... I never dosed a single drop of 2 part...and coralline just flourished all over the rocks. Hardly any waterchange as it was just seagrass/macroalgae.

But it is messy to work with...and REALLY heavy due to its density.

Think I might stick with what I know..I'm a strong believer that if you replicate a reef the natural way you will have better results.having an AIO tank doesn't cut it for me without having mud or sand in a refugium,and you limited to growing space.my old 90 gallon I used the modified Paletta method with the skimmer only on for 6-8 hours a day and never ever had an algae problem or a nitrate problem.i always have a 3-4 inch sandbed also(which some people don't believe in my method.i don't believe in gfo reactors or dosing -if I'm doing weekly water changes why am I going to flush money down the toilet?

it took me awhile to find the registration page - perhaps i need new glasses. Either way, make it more prominent - more encouraging. Great job on the site overall. Will continue to critique as i get further involved.
