I used Walt Smith's Fiji Mud for a base in a seagrass tank. Call it what you will... I never dosed a single drop of 2 part...and coralline just flourished all over the rocks. Hardly any waterchange as it was just seagrass/macroalgae.

But it is messy to work with...and REALLY heavy due to its density.

Think I might stick with what I know..I'm a strong believer that if you replicate a reef the natural way you will have better results.having an AIO tank doesn't cut it for me without having mud or sand in a refugium, and you limited to growing space.my old 90 gallon I used the modified Paletta method with the skimmer only on for 6-8 hours a day and never ever had an algae problem or a nitrate problem.i always have a 3-4 inch sandbed also(which some people don't believe in my method.i don't believe in gfo reactors or dosing -if I'm doing weekly water changes why am I going to flush money down the toilet?
