I see a lot bare bottom tanks without anything. I believe people put these boards to protect bottom glass in case rocks fall. What I like and seen people do is drill holes in LR and place PVC pipe and make a steady foundation. Even make tall caves and branches out of the rocks which looks amazing. To me bare bottom means nothing on bottom. Eventually detritus will find away with current to go under boards.

Yep. Most bb ank setups have. I didn't do it initially and will be doing it soon, as much as i don't want to rip tank a part. I will feel better about the glass being protected I'll get a. Helping hand or two and bang it out in a day. Just have to have it mapped out is all

That is my fault with silicone, I was rushed and only had a small bottle. I ran out of silicone & the next day this dude had gotten live rock for me.

I did not even allow it to cure long enough. I had no choice but to stuff things in there to avoid having LR become dead rock :)

I did a 29gal in the past & I did that one right, silicone all the way down. It is good to even silicone the edges, which again I ran out of silicone & had no more.

I think I will have to replace my stand to make a bigger one & during that time take it apart & redo it right.

I will come back to show you under tank pictures.

So this is the whole 1/2 of tank. The front & even that corner are good overall. The back has a strip of build up. Comparatively 95% free of material is not bad, I think? Stir your sand around & see what kind of chaos you get for a comparison. :shocked1:

I bought the neoprene on Ebay.

This is the floppy corner, again because I simply ran out of silicone. No build up there since the flow in my tank is pretty high.
