Im not sure where u found that u cant get 150 gallons at 1.25 on "cheaper" brands so i wont dispute this (for now).

But so far the only real difference in ESV is that it takes 10 minutes to mix. For me its not worth 2x the $$.

And yes i do try to keep this hobby as cheap and simple as possible. Its SALT not a status symbol. For me at least. Also i only have 3 sps coral and the rest is mix of lps and softys and i never had to add anything to my " cheap salt".

I found a guy on Staten island selling ESV for 70 per case and 65 if you buy two or more cases at a time. Score for me and whoever comes through si

I don't think salt is a status symbol. But I think you are paying a premium price for a premium product.

I'm not knocking the other brands I'm sure many have success with them.

In my experience ESV out performs the cheaper salt. If I didn't have mostly SPS, I probably wouldn't care.

I tried the others and they really don't compare to the consistency of ESV.

In a small tank you probably could get away without supplements.

This is the only professional comparison of salt i found and if im not mistaken Coralife- is the best salt based on actual evidence done by a non biased company.

So untill ESV users can show some actual facts to justify the 2x price difference ill stick to Coralife.

Guys I did not start this thread to talk about price difference. A BMW cost more money than a Camry for a reason, yes they will both get you where you need to get to but we all know one is better than the other. My point is certain salts are better than others cause are purified more and more additives in them than others. Tropic marine is one of the best salts out there, it have every additive marked on the bucket when others dont even tell you what they have. Aqua medic supposedly use to make a salt and had some issues in the company and stopped. What I'm reading is that there salt will be rich in calcium, alkalinity, magnesium and iodine. I was curious if any body had ever use it when they had it in the market before

The problem is, you cannot really use this as a base for telling that ESV is not good, since... it is not tested there.

Coralife is a very good salt AWT is owned by aqua medic. Esv is a make a mix as you wish it can't be as balanced as a salt that is premixed for you and all you have to do is add to make your salinity level

Tried RC, ESV, TM, RedSea. Switched to Coralife and my tank has never looked better. Mixes fairly easy, I don't know what you guys are doing wrong but I get 200 gallons at 1.025 at 80 degrees (My average tank temp) out of a 200 gallon box. Won't go back to any other. Jmo.

H2O is not in there either. This test is 5 years old...

I am not telling that Coralife is bad as I have never tried it. Just pointing out a fact: you cannot use a comparison to evaluate the respective merits of two salts... when one of them has not been tested!

Do you guys realize you are arguing with moneymak who loves to troll for arguments? He does everything in his zenia tank to keep costs down. Only thing he argues about is the price of things. Let it go you wont win with his beautiful mind logic. There has been hundreds of him on this board and just like the rest he will disappear in a few months as well. To each his own. I have tried all the salts and in the past month my corals have never looked the way they are looking now and my acros and chalices are growing day by day and never had that type of growth before. Only thing i switched was salts

Hey guys, since on topic comparing. Which gas is better, cleaner, miles per gal , less binging, Bp, Shell, Exxon, Gulf, Mobile.... Bottom line if it works for you what ever you use. Whatever you think it does over the other Ect.... Bottom line they not one more superior than other. So if you save a buck why not. If their was one you would see a company's advertising and comparing one over the other. Not case here. Why not? Maybe they all do same thing....

I chose my salt because it matched my water parameters that I wanted to keep my tank at so that when I do a WC u don't have to re adjust my dose. It happens to be esv salt.
